Sartor has worked with makers of historical costumes and corsets since its founding. Our first customers were folks involved in the #reenactment community who were looking for truly authentic materials for historical clothing, in particular silk and brocade. Fashion history has always held special interest for us; it can be a rich, and often underappreciated, source of inspiration for current designers as well as those who love period clothing. When we talk about traditional folk costumes – “kroj” in Bohemia (or Silesia, Moravia, and Slovakia for that matter) it means grappling with a whole new vocabulary.
